Dr. Darbye McClanahan

Dr. Darbye McClanahan grew up in Georgia and has called the Atlanta area home for most of her life. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Georgia in 1993. After working for a few years in the pharmaceutical industry, she applied and was accepted into medical school at the Medical College of Georgia.

She completed her Doctorate of Medicine degree in 2000 and immediately began her Anesthesiology residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She completed her residency program in 2004 and became Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiologists in 2006. She enjoyed the practice of anesthesia, but longed for more patient interaction.

Dr. McClanahan had always found the pain management aspect of anesthesiology exciting. According to Dr. McClanahan, the ability to ease a patient’s pain was a remarkable gift. To her, this ability to help her patient’s gave those long years of education and training their true meaning. Thus, she accepted a pain fellowship in Atlanta with Georgia Pain Physicians in 2012.

As the only pain fellow, she had one-on-one training with multiple board certified pain physicians. She gained extensive experience with both medication management and interventional procedures. Dr. McClanahan became Board Certified by the American Board of Pain Medicine in 2017. Today she enjoys practicing both anesthesiology and pain management in Jasper, GA. She also loves spending time with her parents, her husband and their 2 puppies.
